Nitrogenous Fertilizer Plants

چکیده

Ammonia (NH3) is produced from atmospheric nitrogen and hydrogen from a hydrocarbon source. Natural gas is the most commonly used hydrocarbon feedstock for new plants; other feedstocks that have been used include naphtha, oil, and gasified coal. Natural gas is favored over the other feedstocks from an environmental perspective. Ammonia production from natural gas includes the following processes: desulfurization of the feedstock; primary and secondary reforming; carbon monoxide shift conversion and removal of carbon dioxide, which can be used for urea manufacture; methanation; and ammonia synthesis. Catalysts used in the process may include cobalt, molybdenum, nickel, iron oxide/chromium oxide, copper oxide/zinc oxide, and iron.

Changes of Tropane Alkaloids in Black Henbane (Hyoscyamus niger L.) in Response to Different Types of Nitrogenous Fertilizers

Background: Since alkaloids are nitrogenous compounds, the availability of nitrogen (N) is expected to play an important role in the biosynthesis and accumulation of alkaloids in plants. Nitrogen has been found to increase the content of alkaloids in some of the medicinal plants. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of nitrogen bio-fertilizers, conventional nitrogen fe...

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT NITROGENOUS FERTILIZERS ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF THREE YEARS OLD TEA (Camellia sinensis) PLANTS

Effect of different nitrogenous fertilizers on the growth and yield of three years old tea (Camellia sinensis L) plants was investigated at National Tea Research Institute, Shinkiari, (Mansehra) during 2005-06. The nitrogenous fertilizers used were ammonium sulphate, calcium ammonium nitrate, urea and nitrophos along with control receiving no fertilizer. All the nitrogenous fertilizers were app...

Measurement of a possible signal for nitrogen starvation in a cyanobacterium-plant symbiosis

One of the greatest advances in agriculture (and thus in human civilization) occurred in the middle of the 20 century, when strains of crop plants were developed that allowed considerably greater yields, at the expense of high inputs of nitrogenous fertilizer. The resulting increase in the use of nitrogenous fertilizers came at a great cost, however. As much as 1% of the total global energy bud...

Effects of nitrogen on the tolerance of brown planthopper, Nilaparvata Lugens, to adverse environmental factors

The effect of nitrogen content in rice plants on the tolerance of brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stål to high temperature, starvation and insecticide, was studied in the laboratory at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. Survival of nymphs and adults, fecundity and egg hatchability were significantly increased by the increase of nitrogen content in host plants...
